CAMPING – SUMMER WEEKENDS & BANK HOLIDAYS

The Mabbutts extend a warm welcome to weekend campers on our New Forest Farm.  We offer basic clean farm camping in our one acre paddock surrounded by cows and New Forest ponies.

The Site

Is a reasonably level free draining one acre paddock surrounded by farmland and the open New Forest on the other side with ancient deciduous woodland beyond .  Basic facilities include toilets with hot water and drinking water points.  We have an onsite butchery and small farm shop selling basic provisions including milk, cereal orange juice and home made pies and pasties. 

 As we remain a working beef and pork farm, some out of hours machinery operations may occur occasionally in the distance.  We are a quiet very basic site in the heart of the New Forest National park we emphasize quiet enjoyment of the park’s wildlife and ancient landscape and ask you to respect us and our neighbours.    

Location 

We are the closest site to Lyndhurst – one mile east of the capital of the New Forest.  Lyndhurst affords a supermarket, petrol station, bank, post office, camping shop, 8 pubs and numerous restaurants and cafes.  There is a pleasant, quiet walk along the “ridge” through open heathland.

Buses: Hourly service from Southampton and Brockenhurst (“Blue Star 6”).  From London direct daily service (“coach 032”) through National Express.  Stop at Lyndhurst Fire Station.  Then one mile walk along B3078 or call local taxi 02380 170330.

Car: Satnav of postcode “SO43 7FZ” takes you directly to the site.  Look out for green sign “Pondhead Farm” as you drive down Beaulieu Road B3078 and then follow farm drive.  It is recommended to avoid heavy traffic by avoiding junction 1 M27 and instead use junction 3 M27 via M271 Southampton.  

Trains:  Twice hourly service from London and Bournemouth stopping at Southampton Central or Brockenhurst.  Direct connection to “Blue Star 6”.  Budget fares from £1 via megabus site from London to Southampton through https://uk.megabus.com

We are very popular and have many regular schools visiting with such groups being situated in the heart of the forest and only a few miles from Beaulieu Motor Museum.  We offer a 20% discount on prices.  Subject to liaising we welcome groups and rallies.  Please contact us on camping@pondhead.co.uk in the first instance.

Rules/Advice 

We are a family, not a party site.  Accordingly please ensure you are quiet after 10pm and behave with this ethos.  No large single sex groups.  Excessive inebriation and misconduct will not be tolerated and the management reserve the right to remove you. 

We encourage you to BBQ our sausages, burgers and steaks bought from our shop, but not at the expense of the pasture, please ensure BBQs are off of the ground.   

Fires – must not burn the pasture. 

Please keep the site clean for yourself and others by using the rubbish bags provided and place these in the green wheelie bins once filled.  Glass is recycled in the black boxes. 

Dogs are welcome, but these must be exercised off of the site, and kept under control at all times – we are a working farm. 

As it is a working farm do not enter fields unused by camping or any of the yards as Bulls and other livestock may injur or kill. 

Young and/or large groups: at the discretion of the management we may charge a good behaviour bond of £10 per person.  This is returnable subject to compliance of the above at the end of your stay.
